The smaller brown and white wolfdog had taken off quick, and he gave her props for catching him off guard. It didn't happen often, but then Talon was off, racing to catch up. He kept a steady pace slightly in front of her. He didn't think she knew the way as well as he did, but she had proven him wrong enough times for him not to be sure of much anything about her. Lilith was an odd creature, not like any he'd met before. Which only made him have to work harder. An extra detour he'd have to make due with is all. Nothing he couldn't handle. As talon ran, his large paws beat the earth roughly. He ran with his head low, not wanting to catch the wind and end up fumbling and throwing himself into the air. He'd just make a fool of himself, and he didn't want that, of course. Talon made sure to keep Lilith in view, to make sure she was still with him. He had to be careful about this one. She didn't exactly like him yet, but he'd change that hopefully.

As the wastelands came into view, Talon slowed down to a brisk trot, then to a full stop before he stepped on the ashen volcanic rock. He didn't want to make it explode by stepping in the wrong place. He looked to Lilith with a grin and cautiously began to venture closer to the volcano. His white paws quickly became a charred black as he made his way across the charred rock. He came to a stop and turned around, a teasing grin on his maw. "Well, come on, boss!" He wagged his tail and dropped to his elbows in a playful position, then he turned to look at the volcano, straightened up again. "That thing's huge! Wonder if we can look inside it..." He chuckled at the silly thought. Of course they couldn't. It would be suicide to even try.

Lilith was winded after the run, but she did a very good job of hiding it, subtly catching her breath as she gazed out over the ruined landscape. So this was it. Her father had brought one of her brothers out here once, but not her. Granted, she'd never asked, but given the history, she still thought he ought to have done it anyway.

Ah well, she was here now.

She closed her eyes for a moment and turned her head into the unseasonably warm breezes, wrinkling her nose slightly at the unfamiliar stench.
"It was dug out and forced to erupt by Blessings, you know." For one who'd never visited the volcano before, she knew a lot about it. "The one who did it was killed inside. Have you heard the story?"

Talon watched as the femme came to a stop as well, her eyes grazing the surface of the land. He tilted his head and trotted back to where she was, standing a few feet away. He watched her as her eyes closed and backed up another foot or two. His tail swayed, waiting for her to speak. Talon didn't want to break her moment of peace. The area was warm, a but too warm for the brute's liking, but he could put up with it if he had to.

He listened as she spoke, interested in the history of the volcano. Talon knew many stories of the mountain, some which he had witnesses to share with him, but the one of the volcano was still a mystery to him and he was interested to hear more.

"No, I've never heard it before. Seems as though the storytellers I listened to were a bit touchy about the subject," He'd prodded the brute to tell more, as a spirit, but the wolf had simply moved on to a different story, always changing subject when Talon had brought up the volcano. "I'd like to hear more, though," He took a few steps closer so he could hear clearly. "About the volcano and it's history. I'm always up for a story." He sat on a flat surface, ears perked up and ready to listen to the tale she had to tell.

Lilith spared a glance at him, considering how to explain.

"It happened before I was born," she began. "There was a mad dog who wanted more than anything to be remembered, so he gathered an army. First, he waged war against WolfySilverSonic. He thought to kill the alpha and thus make his history, but she was too clever for him. She won without fighting."

Lilith paused. Apparently that was a good thing to do during stories, to let the listener's imagination have time to work. She didn't really have much experience with telling stories, but she did pay attention to such things.

"A year later, he tried again. Since killing one wolf hadn't worked, he decided to kill the mountain." She nodded out toward the charred slope. "He reformed his army, choosing each for very particular talents, and he took them back to the mountain." Her bi-colored gaze swept from the black plateaus of magma to the rise of Wolf Mountain beyond it, taking in the view as she related its history.
"They dug until the mountain bled fire, all the while fending off an attack. In the end, Wolfy's defenders stopped the destruction before the whole land was ruined, but obviously not before the mad dog left his mark...
That's the way I heard the story, anyway."

Talon looked down at the rock beneath him, imagining the scene in his head as she explained it, though the brute she was talking about came as a blank, black shadowed figure, as he didn't know who he was. She hadn't told him that yet, and perhaps she herself didn't know. If she didn't explain it on her own, he'd have to ask. He frowned, wondering why someone would engrave their name in such a beautiful land in such a negative way. It made little to no sense to him, but he understood some would do anything for fame and fortune. Talon wondered why, among all the other stories he'd heard of WSS this one had been left out. It seemed like an important piece of history if it had scarred the land.

Talon opened his mouth to ask a question while Lilith paused, but snapped it shut again as she continued. Questions could be asked later. It saddened him slightly to think of someone so self centered and evil that they would do such an awful thing to the mountain. How could he even think for one minute that everything was going to end up all right? That his plan would actually work? Wolfy had more power then anyone could ever imagine, and Talon's stomach lurched at the thought of even meeting the wolf. He'd heard she was great, but also that she was intimidating and a bit scary. He sighed, once she was done and took a moment to ponder over what she had just told him. Someone was evil enough to scar the whole territory, leaving nothing but a very uninviting volcano in it's ashes.

"Who was the dog who wanted to mark his name?" He asked after a long silence. "I sort of understand why he did that," he flicked his head towards the volcano. "But why did he try and go against Wolfy? From what I hear, that is kinda suicide." He flicked his tail, looking the mountain over. It was probably once a beautiful place to visit, but now people wouldn't dare even go near it. How upsetting.

"Wolfy wasn't that dangerous. From what I've heard, she didn't want to fight. It was her friends who turned ferocious, and they were the same ones who saved the mountain a year later."
She had intentionally answered the second question first, saving the identity of the 'mad dog' for a final little plot twist. She was proud of him, for what he was. Misguided, maybe, but Lilith found any display of ambition admirable. So many beasts didn't have the guts to chase their dreams. She herself didn't have any dreams to chase.
The one who scarred the mountain caused a lot of pain, to himself as well as others, but at least he'd tried. He hadn't let the world pass him by, and he'd succeeded in leaving his mark.
It was ironic, Lilith knew, that she had such a negative opinion of apathy.

It was rather confusing and a bit frustrating to be left in the dark by the femme. She didn't answer the one question he wanted to know most, but she was giving him this information, and he couldn't really complain. She hadn't asked to be his storyteller, only to visit the volcano, and he wasn't about to twist it by nagging her about a stupid question.

"I'm sure he was proud of himself in the end." Talon said, deciding not to push the question of who the mystery person was. He trusted that she would tell him. Just a little added mystery by keeping it from him until the end. Or maybe she didn't know, but it wouldn't hurt to just say so. "I think I would probably do the same if I wanted so badly to make myself known..." As he looked around, Talon thought for a long while. One dog had done this. Created an army and in the end, created a volcano to forever remind the creatures on Wolf Mountain what he had done. Some would think of him great for doing such things, some would think him no good. Talon, was in between, leaning closer to great the more he thought about it.

"He hates it, now," she said abruptly.

"The dog who did this was killed in the eruption, like I said, but his brother brought him back to life. It purged the madness from him. It's a sad story, really. He has his fame now that he's stopped wanting it. He lives in fear of losing his life or his family to an act of revenge."

She gave Talon a conspiratorial little smile, the first she'd allowed him to see.

"He doesn't really like it when I talk about being his daughter."

Talon nodded. He too had been brought back to life though instead of cleansing his soul, it had brought hate and tainted close to all good inside him. He once had a pure soul, but his father had tainted it when he killed him and the rest, and jealousy had finished the job of driving the brute completely insane. His eyes began to wander. He was sure no one would act so unkindly to him. Talon didn't believe in second chances, but he did believe in beginning new. Now that the dog had been punished for doing wrong, he became new again, reborn, and Talon thought that everyone should think of it as a clean slate.

It took all of the wolf's willpower to keep his jaw from dropping. Instead, he gave her an amused look, his tail swaying. "His daughter, hm?" He moved closer, flicking his ears. "A sad story indeed, though I must say, I am impressed. Such a fearless father you have, not many have the couraage to do what he did." He paused, looking around before continuing. "Well I think it was a very interesting story," He smiled. "It was very kind of you to share your father's story with the mystery guy you just met." He had never told Lilith his name, or anything about who he was. "So now what's your story, Lilith? Maybe you'd let me be apart of it one way or another?" He flicked his tail, looking at her deviously. "What to do now..." He stetched, yawning. He'd taken her where she wanted, it was about time he got what he wanted.

If he wanted a worthy pedigree, she certainly had that. If one considered ambition to the point of madness as worthy, that is.
Not that she was aware of the reason behind his interest. This sort of thing was normal, wasn't it? An indulgence of instinct. She saw nothing wrong with that, no matter how casual it was.

She was very much aware that he hadn't offered his name. She rather liked it that way, the not knowing. As her storytelling method had demonstrating, she did have a certain respect for mystery.

As usual, she considered her answer carefully before speaking. Or perhaps she just waited long enough to make it seem that way.

"Let's move upwind. I don't like the smell of this place."

And without waiting for his response, she began to skirt along the edge of the scorched territory, taking it a little slower than she had on the way here.

Talon waited for a reply from her, but simply got a suggestion to move places. He simply nodded, and followed behind her. She was right. It stunk. it wasn't a pleasant smell and it made his nose sting a little bit, though he ignored that. Most places had the scent of dragons, felines or other animals that made his nose sting, so he learned to not pay much attention to it.

"So what do you say, Boss?" Talon had quickly grown fond of calling Lilith the nickname. He flicked his tail once as the smell got fainter and further away. "A little romance with a soldier back home from war?" He was walking on thin ice here, and he knew it. He would probably blow it, but there was a slim chance he's succeed in his task, though he spoke sure and shameless. "It would surely be an exciting twist to your week." Now he trotted in front of her, moving to the other side of her. He hoped she was a little interested in his offer.

"Hmm. I'm not saying no." Her tone was casual, almost disinterested, and she barely spared a glance at him as she walked along... but her steps were graceful, her head held high and neck arched to display her thick, silky ruff. She moved her tail just slightly as she walked, not quite wagging, but creating a fluid effect, aided as the long, wispy trails of fur were caught up in the wind. It all looked like unconscious beauty, yet given the context it was obvious that she knew exactly what she was doing.

"I have nothing better to do."

Even when she was trying, she had a very odd take on seduction...

Obviously this fey knew how to make a guy go crazy. He watched as she walked, trailing behind but only slightly. They had met earlier that day, and now she was driving him out of his mind. He did a good job of hiding it but he had no doubt in his mind that she knew exactly what she was doing. His face remained the same when she spoke. She wasn't saying no, but she wasn't saying yet quite yet.

"Good enough for me." He smiled, stretching lazily, leaning over to give her a nudge. "I'm taking that as a yes, though." He lifted his tail and head, flicking his head. "Shall we go? This place is rather hot. I don't fancy staying much longer." He tilted his head and glanced back at the Mountain. Surely he'd be back. Soon enough he'd explore the volcano. But now he was a little occupied.

Hot, tired and hungry, Comet padded along head down tail beating cool air on himself, not bothered about sniffing the ground for danger. after a exhausting run comet spotted two figures. slowly comet turned and layed hoping he had not been spotted. His dark brown and black fur rested on the ground and comet panted heavily. he shook his fur and sat up straight and turns again and walked towards the figures a bit to the right hoping for some well needed company, he thought that if he was with two others and he was resting maybey he would be a bit more protected instead of being alone out in the open.
