Count Chance

The common griffin trudged unhappily through the river danson. He had not gotten into a fight for awhile. It was rather dissapointing to him. Sighing he layed down next to the river. Watching it flow gracefully before him. There was nothing to do. He was so bored. Glancing to his left then his right he rolled his beady yellow eyes. Count Chance was a perfect feathered griffin. His muscles were well balenced and his feathers preened amazing for a male. "This is so boring." He muttered closing one eye to rest.

Talli was soaring above the River Danson on this clear day. She was wondering what to do when she spotted another Gryphon lounging on the beach in the sun. She swooped in and landed. Her beautiful, in her opinion, feathery coat was not even ruffled. The sun glinted off her beak and front talons. She made an impressive sight. She was big for her age, just shy of 3 months.
"Hello, might i ask who you are?"
She had never met another gryphon. She was anxious to know her own species.

Chance looked up almost in shock as the gorgeous griffin landed before him. He had never seen such a beautiful female. "Hi" He managed with a cough, clearing his throat. "I am Count Chance. You may call me Chance Lady. What is your name may i ask?" He tried to act normal but he had never been in such an ackward position. If any other creature had landed he would be confusing them to no end already and halfway through killing them.

Talli laughed at the gryphons confusion. She walked around him as he made no move to get up. She noticed that he couldnt take his eyes off her. She knew she was flashy and some wolves had said as much but she didnt know her own species would see her the same way. How exhilarating.
"My name is Talli. So Count Chance, why the count? im curious actually. Lets do something... i dont know what but im sure thiers something we can do," She winked and started to slowly move away. She hoped chance would follow but wasnt to sure.
She definitely thought Chance was cute. Not remarkable but cute. She stretched her silver wings wide and looked back at him invitingly...

Chance did keep his eyes on her. It didnt matter to him that he was staring. He had never been taught it was a bad thing. "Ummm." He said not even trying to think of an answer for her. "I dont know why it's Count." He stood as she walked away, trying not to stumble over his own feet. It wouldnt do to make himself look like a complete idiot. Ruffeling his feathers he sprinted to catch up with her. "I would love to do something with you. Anything you would like to do actually." He kept stride with her, trying to look as radiant and strong as possible.

Talli stretched her wings and leaped into the air. Her silver feathers flashing in the sun. Her wings beat the air with enthusiasm as she wheeled and rolled.
"Well then, Count Chance, Come and get me!!!" She called back in a most mocking tone she could manage, all the time with a huge grin on her face.
She flew high in the air and watched Chance from the corner of her eye. he was a magnificent gryphon after all.

Chance scrambled after her, tripping over his feet. Luckily his wings caught him and so did a draft of wind, sending him into the sky after her. Chance made sure to stretch his black tipped winged far, letting his wingspan flash fully out. Hopefully impressing her. "Your gonna wanna go faster then that." He chirped shooting after her. He was faster then her, but he was also older. Although he was being careless because he was still in awe of her. He veered widely after her, causeing time loss. Catching the wind on his wings he dived from above at her. "Coming!"

Talli saw Chance launch himself off the ground and come soaring up to her. He swooped past her and then dived from above at her. She dived also. Keeping one step ahead she flared out her wings and cut to the left. She looked back expecting to see him dive right on past. She stared at him with her midnight blue eyes, sparkling.
She yelled out,"You, Mr. Count, are going to have to be a whole lot faster then that. You see, you may be older but im smaller and can turn faster."
She winked at him and soared even higher.

Chance saw her diving ahead of him and dropped faster. She cut away and he soared right past. The whole fact of him wanting to catch her so bad was making him clumsy and awkward. Doing a barrel roll back to face her he grinned. "Okay maybe i do." He plowed forward again trying to catch up with her again. Perhaps he could at least touch one of her pretty silver feathers. Something about her had him so interested. It wasnt that she was just a female. Or another griffin. He had seen others before. She was just to gorgeous to not want.

Talli laughed all the while. She was having blast. Consorting with a handsome griffin hundreds of feet in the air, what could be different. As she soared higher and higher she reached around and plucked a magnificent silver feather from her back and let it drop neatly into Chances' flight path.
"Here you go, thiers a chance you will catch it. And if you do catch it, what will you do with it? Catch me if you can chance!"
With that parting shot she tucked her wings and dove right past him, a silver bullet plummeting for the river below.

Chance watched her intently with his bright yellow eyes. A feather! The silver feather floated towards him and his eyes lost her for a second as they followed the glinting silver feather. He caught it delicatly in his taloned claw. This feather was hers, but now it was his! He stayed where he was watching her dive for the river with one eye. Well he watched her, he guided the feather into his chest, mixing it with his own feathers and fur. Hopefully it would hold fast mixed with his. If he lost it he would be very upset. Ready to play again he dove after her, remebering to keep his form this time. His heavier body soared past her and shot into the river. He came up in only seconds, flying straight up at her. The collision was not something he was worried about, he could swim, and if it was done neatly he could even catch her.

Talli laughed and flared her wings a second before impact with the water. She didnt feel like getting wet. It was all for nought as Chance collided with the water a mere feet from her and splashed her with copious amounts of water. She beat her wings strongly and raised herself in the air. strongly flying towards a huge chunk of rock jutting out into the river. The water was deep around it and Chance was already in said water. She could sun herself and Chance could catch her some lunch and then join her.
"Come on Chance, lets rest. Im a little hungry, whats thier to eat around here?" She asked, hinting at the fish. She looked directly at him in the water with her deep blue eyes.

Chance watched her land and almost rolled her eyes. She was so full of herself. He was noticing this now. But it didnt bother him all that much, well not yet anyways. "I can surely catch a fish for you beautiful lady." He hung in the air for a moment, gazing at her across the river before diving back down. Under the water it only took him a moment to grab a large juicy fish in his beak. He swallowed it nearly instantly, not able to help himself. It was delicious. He quickly snatched at another one and shot from the river. Chance instantly shook, spraying water back into the river as he floated before her. With a flick of his strong neck he tossed the fish towards her then flew gracefully next to her. He began imediatly preening his wet feathers. It wouldnt do to have the wet and matted.

"Beautiful huh Chance. You think so? i dodnt know ive always thought i was average. Hm difference of opinion i guess."
She began to preen herself. And started as a bug juicy trout landed in front of her. She smiled and watched as Chance also began to preen herself.
She quickly devoured the fish and her hunger was sated for now.
"So Chance where are you fron? who else do you know around here?"

Chance watched her out of the corner of his eye. She ate the fish and groomed herself as well. When she asked him a question his eyes turned over to her fully. "I was born somewhere around here." He thought about the second half. He couldnt tell her about his master, it just didnt seem like something that would win her affection. "I really dont know anyone on the mountain personally." He said. It wasnt a lie. He and Crepuscule were not on personal terms. They were master and griffin, nothing else. Chance continued his grooming but still kept an eye on her. "Why does it matter where im from? Or who i know?" He asked trying not to sound suspicious. Even though she was a female and pretty he shouldnt have let his guard down so much.
