The black body heaved as the wolf gave a yawn, long and leisurely. His legs stretched out along the cold stone, emerald eyes fluttering open in the spot of sunlight that flooded through the small hole in the ceiling of the cave. The brute didn't bother blinking against the harsh yellow light, but squinted up at it for a long moment, pupils contracting into tiny pin pricks as he gave a warm smile. Angelus laid there for a while, closing his eyes lazily and enjoying the heat thoroughly. It had been a few months, and still he appreciated every new dawn he could awake to, every beam that tickled the body that was riddled with burn scars hidden by his glossy black fur. It was almost like he was normal.

But he was far from that...

The brute's nose twitch, the familiar coppery smell of a nearby animal coming to him on a chilled autumn breeze. His body acted instantly, pupils turning to long slits and fangs growing and poking out the sides of his lips to either side of his chin. It had been hours since he'd eaten last, perhaps the reason why his stomach lurched and he found himself drawn to walk toward this scent. However, this was but a hunger... Nowhere near the bouts of ravenous starvation he used to feel... Back when he had to wait sixteen hours between his meals.

Nost to the air, the long-legged brute followed the scent of blood through the warm morning sun on deft, silent paws. His movement was absolutely chilling to watch, abnormal in every way. It was as if he were walking on air, or through water... His wrists flicked out fluidly, body moving every inch with grace that put a cat to shame. And there was not sound beneath the large paws of the tall brute. It was unnatural. Frightening, even, to see; with that odd sense of wrong about him.

The wolf stopped at the river's edge, piercing emerald gaze across the water and zeroed in on a large badger as if he'd been watching him the whole time. The innocent creature was going about it's own business, gathering up materials in it's maw and waddling about completely unaware of the wolf on the opposite shores who, despite his bold stance in broad daylight, remained undetected. There was a flash of black, a blur tracing over the stones that dotted across the river, and suddenly Angel was standing over the badger. It had no time to react as he leaned in, taking ahold of it's neck in his strong jaws, and giving a twist. Again, there was no sound. The bones were broken only so, silent, and the animal had been given no time to cry out.

Abnormal. Unnatural... Strange.

Angel let the animal fall from his grasp, shaking his head and shoulders with it's white diamond crest. He gave a quick glance around before laying down before the still warm carcass, sinking his teeth in it's jugular and loosening his grip only enough to let the blood flow. He held the badger in this way for a long time, eyes closed as he drank the warm liquid, adjusting here and there for a better flow.

There was nothing natural to him... Maybe he was a little less dangerous with his newly acquired daytime pass. Less hungry, at least. But, for all intensive purpose, he was still just a monster.

Nibelheim was proud of her abilities she was getting very good at her skills and abilities as a healer. She had recently healed a pup at the puppy play clearing then once she was assured he was alright left for ice pack where later that night her aunt came home half dead. The tri-colored fem still didn’t get the full story on what had happened to her, but all that mattered now was that she was safe and alive and well. Nibelheim came here somewhat often… or she liked to think she did, Angelus was here and despite his curse and his feelings, she couldn’t keep away from the black and white brute. It was impossible for her to stay away from him and it had been that way since she had first met him when they were only teens. He had saved her from a vicious aqua dragon and since she didn’t think about any other brute. She was stuck on him, he liked it or not and at the very least she was going to keep being his friend.

The fem trotted towards the little cave that was his den, knowing that would be where he was hiding at. In her maw was a plump hare meant to help sate his hunger if he was hungry that is. Picking up her pace to a fast run she felt her excitement flare. Her bright sky blue eyes gleamed with giddiness as the den came into sight at the base of the river and the fem scurried in. “Hey Angelus!” She chirped but, the den was empty.

She tilted her head slightly dropping the hare on the floor she turned and quickly went back out. His scent was still fresh in the den, he hadn’t been gone long. “Easier to keep track of him when he was confined,” she mused gleefully in her mind. It was cute, him being able to run around in the sun now, be normal and happy. The tricolor slate, light brown and white fem didn’t have to run long before the familiar form of the black brute came into sight though he was across the river from her. She smiled, he seemed well, that made her happy.

White feathery wings came from her shoulders and with a leap and a few good beats, she crossed the river, landing lightly behind him, her tail waving behind her. Nibel was certain he knew she was there. “There you are.” She said looking around him to see him feeding on the badger then looking over his form, he looked more healthy, more fit, he was clearly benefiting a lot from his day time romps. “I left you a gift at your den, would be good desert though it’s a bit cold.” The fem said in a cheery voice. She never cared that he was different, it was one of the reasons that she loved him after all.

Brilliant emerald eyes shot open as a sixth sense washed over the brute, teeth still sunk deep in the badger's throat. Angelus stared straight toward his cavern den despite the fact that it was well out of sight, sensing the presence of another with cold realization. He smelled the blood, a blood that sang to him sweeter than any badger, hare, or deer, the blood of kin. A heartbeat came to his ears, quick and steady as the wolf ran toward him. The brute stood, letting the gray and black creature dangle from his jaws as slitted pupils traced movement through the trees on the other side of the river. It was then that the fem's scent came to him, sweet and earthy, ringing a bell in the more civil part of his consciousness.

As Nibelheim glided across the river, Angel let the lifeless badger drop from his mouth with a muffled thump on the moist ground. He blinked, his pupils returning to a normal circle and fangs retracting to a slightly longer than normal state. A blood stained tongue traced his jaws, cleaning up any remaining mess as the wolfess approached, her tone light and cheery despite the gruesome tint of the subject. She'd brought him a sacrifice. Well... at least that's how he felt somewhere deep down. The idea sickened him, though it wasn't her fault. A safeguard, in case he was hungry. It was a smart idea, though there were some things she didn't understand.

"Ahh," Angel started in response, not exactly sure what to say. "Hello." Well it was probably expected that he greet before he started pointing out the faults in her plan. Emerald eyes flicked over the slate, tan, and white fem, finding her to be quite well. "Thank you?" The tone was a bit unsure, as if he wasn't sure whether he should really enlighten her. But it was best that he did, otherwise she would find out on her own one day and feel guilty that she didn't know. "But... I can't drink coagulated or cold blood. It doesn't... flow. And I need the warmth." He fell silent immediately after he was done, looking at them fem for a long time in awkward silence before tearing his gaze away to the river.

The mostly wolf canine was never too sure about the fem's presence in his life, always have a strong feeling against it for her own safety. But, he thought with resignation, though he tried to push her out of his life as he had his own mother and siblings, Nibelheim refused to acknowledge his wishes. Time and time again she returned to him despite the rough meetings they'd had in the past. It was both comforting and disconcerting and he'd given up trying to protest, which left him in an awkward position. He was split in half, enjoying their encounters for company and wanting her to forget he existed for her own safety. It was confusing to say the least.

"So," Angel reached for something, anything to take his mind off of the battle within. He began a silent jog further out into the brush, following a less appetizing scent of blood than her own. He was still a little hungry, and that was something he didn't want to feel around the delightfully scented and warm fem. "You're well," he stated, black paws silent on the earth and body making no sound on the grazing plants. "How is your family?"

Nibel watched him clean his maw, not bothered at all by the sight of long fangs or the single moment when his pupils were slit much like a cat’s. She smiled still just happy that he was happy and well and not hurt, or worse dead. The slender fem didn’t think she could handle that, Angel dead.

But he wasn’t so the happiness continued.

At his reply for a greeting she couldn’t help but suppress a few giggles her tail waving even when he said she had brought the offering for no reason. Well it was the thought that counted she guessed, but she figured that it might have been the case. She just thought she would try. “Sorry,” she said though it clearly didn’t bother her all that much that she had caught it for no reason. She could always eat it herself later she guessed. As her ripped his gaze away hers followed. He seemed bothered with her being here, that was normal, but he seemed a bit more depressed today than he normally did when she came to see him.

As he moved through the brush she followed but more on the game trail than he did. His question surprised her slightly, but it seemed he was really working to find a topic to talk about. “The same, mom and dad are good my siblings are here and there, some left the mountain recently… Otherwise the same craziness,” her tail waved lightly, “One thing did happen though, my younger aunt got really hurt and I healed her as best as I could, since then though I’ve gotten more healing blessings. It seems the mountain is granting my wishes of being able to help and heal others,” She was almost giddy with the thought of being able to do more for others.

"That's good," Angelus responded without really thinking, paws continuing their strangely silent trek straight through the woods parallel the game trail. He paused, suddenly realizing his err, bright green eyes blinking. "Not that your aunt was hurt, of course," the mostly black brute amended, paws rolling back into their rhythm. "But that your family is otherwise fine and that you received new blessings. Of course I wouldn't think your aunt's turn of events to be good.." He let his voice trail off, feeling awkward enough already.

The brute's mind wandered to his own family, something it had been doing a lot lately, small and strange as it may have been. His mother, Love Enduring, how was she? And his siblings? He hadn't seen or heard from any of them, though that was his own doing. Angel had estranged himself over a year ago due to his infliction. He wouldn't even't know what to say if he saw the face of Reverence or Imek, or even Moonstone. Would he even recognize his siblings in passing? Angel had changed much himself. The white strip that once made its way down his back had shortened to the diamond crest of his neck and the once white underneath of his tail had disappeared altogether. He was much taller than he had been as a pup; squat and round was his former self, tall and clad in lean muscle was him now. The infliction itself was enough to mask his identity, giving him a surreal grace and carriage. The only thing that remained the same were his eyes, bright emerald cores exactly like his mother's.

A scent that reminded him strongly of iron came to the brute's nose, halting him as his gaze narrowed down through the thick forest. Though he couldn't see through the foliage from this distance, the doe's heartbeat was unmistakably readable behind the steady drum of Nibelheim's. They were well out of hearing range, but it would be easiest if he went on his own from here. The mostly wolf canine cut in front of the wolfess, eyes still pinned on a spot out of sight, placing himself silently in her way to halt her. He turned his emerald cores on her, pupils slit and fangs elongated once more. "Stay," he nearly whispered to her, voice soft yet commanding, sounding strange apart from normal tones he used when addressing others. It had an edge of pleading to it, one that reached his eyes.

Plainly, Angel didn't want her to see it. The way he killed, effortlessly and unreal, unnerved him as it was. There was something absolutely chilling about his approach, the calm way his jaws found their deadly spot, and the silence of the whole scene. Sound was a dependable sense for most creature, so to be turned upon without a sound was frightening. He'd imagined himself hunting from a third party perspective himself and it sickened him. It just wasn't natural.

The brute's gaze lingered on the fem for only a moment before facing back to the front. He took off suddenly, long limbs stretching out before him as his body passed through the brush without so much as a whistle of wind on his fur. He was gone from sight within seconds, beelining for his prey and very much eager to get the job done before Nibel decided to ignore his words. The doe came into view, petite and dwarfed compared to the normal whitetail herds on the mountain. He wasn't sure of the breed, but considered it good enough for him. Her size wasn't much larger than his own, if she was even the same size, yet it would quench his thirst well enough.

The poor thing didn't even have a chance to lift it's head from the ferns. Angel was upon her a split second after his eyes had first caught sight of her, flashing through the woods like a phantom. His jaws found her jugular with precise positioning, body giving a lurch as he both dropped her and snapped her neck before she even knew what was going on. He supposed that was the good thing about his techniques. They never suffered.

The doe's body hit the ground with a heavy thump on the ferns, lifeless even before she began to sway. The black brute was upon her instantly, mouth enclosing on the open wounds he'd created. Brilliant emerald eyes closed as the silky warm liquid seeped down his throat, warming his body almost instantly. It was like suddenly being alive again, if he'd even really died to begin with. It sure felt like it...

She followed loyally on the path behind him, eyes on his black rump as he walked ahead, simply watching it following blindly. Nibel didn’t think much about his little mix up in words, know that it was what he meant. As he tried to fix it up she giggled slightly, “I know, I know. You wouldn’t want me to be sad like that,” the tri-colored fem said her icy eyes still on the brute as she tailed behind stopping only when he stopped. His pause was expected, it seemed Angel didn’t talk to many others besides herself. Maybe she could get him a dragon or something, a partner later.

As he cut her off, Nibelheim looked around a bit unsure. She didn’t see anything or hear anything either. Well she guessed he was a bit different from herself as much as she didn’t want to admit it. As he ordered her to stay she gave a little sigh of semi-annoyance and sat down watching him shoot off so wildly into the woods. He better come back for me, she thought as his form quickly vanished. It was unnatural, yes, but he wasn’t a natural being. A curse made him different and there was little the slender fem could do short of killing him. She never did tell him the cure… she wasn’t sure still if she should. He had a right to know if he didn’t already perhaps when he returned she would?

She sat in this though for some time laying on the ground and crossing her two paws over one another. Nibel hoped he would come back, she figured he was eating some more before staying any longer. Why make her stay, she didn’t know. Nibel knew and accepted that the brute was different, has some special eating habits, it didn’t bother her. She wished he could see that.

((Sorry wasn't as long as I would have hoped >.<wink)
