The common griffin flew to the nest him and his mate had made only a few days before. It already held two perfect specimens. He settled delicatly over them, giving them warmth and love. Their mother would be long, she just need a bite herself. He ruffled his feathers, keeping himself warm as well. The cool air over the mountain sent a chill through his fur.
"Not to much longer little ones. You will come to us. I cannot wait. "
Chance had already been thinking of names. Hopefully he would get to name at least one. Although to him they were considered her children more then his. It was her right to name them, if she wanted to. He loved his mate more then anything and would let her do what she wanted with them.

Talli soared above Wolf Mountain. She was tired but needed sustenance. She had been beat since laying the 2 eggs back at the nest. Chance would be thier, warding off the chill.

She caught a flash of white and noticed a billy goat leaping from rock to rock going about his business. Rigt now his business was his own food. In a minute it was going to be filling Tallis stomach.
She dived and caught him in her strong front talons. She neatly snapped its neck and settled on a ledge to enjoy her meal. She gorged and made herself look a little plump.

She took off and was soon at the nest. Chance was indeed thier keeping the eggs warm. She landed and laid next to him. Her silver feathers ruffled in the breeze.

"Ive been thinking of names Chance. Gambit, Duke, Raze, Phoenix. Whatever. One definitely needs to be Gambit though. It has a nice ring to it." She said to him.

Chance watched his beautiful silver winged mate land. He loved watching her fly. She landed and lay beside him and he smiled as much as a griffin could at her.
"I do like Gambit. It sounds perfect" Chance said moving to ruffle her feathers with his beak. Something twitched under him and he gently shuffled to the side.
One of the eggs was begaining to crack directly down the middle. A tiny beat emerging from the top, moving at high speeds to remove itself from the dungeon it lay in.
"Here one comes love." Chance said looking on with excitment.
As the shell broke away a bright red griffin lay exauhsted before the new parents crying its welcome to the new world.
"If its fine with you i think Phoenix will fit this beautiful girl." Chance said waiting for Talli to make the first move in any kind of cleaning or love to the new hatchling.

Talli watched he daughter appear in the new world and was glad hers and Chances bodies kept the cold out and the heat in. She bent her neck and cleaned the bright red hachling.
"Phoenix is perfect, my Love."
She stopped talking as the other egg began to rock in its cradle. It rocked and rocked. Soon a spiderweb of cracks appeared but nothing real big. Talli feared it wouldnt hatch. but then All of a sudden the egg exploded on all directions with the force of the little hachling inside. Unlike his sister this little male was a deep crimson and looked silently at his parents and then his sister.
Talli cleaned the male and looked at Chance.
"This one shall be called Gambit."

Chance watched his mate clean their new daughter. Then his son be hatched into the cold world. As she cleaned them he pushed them closer to her side.
"Gambit fits that wild fletchling perfect." Chance said stretching his wings around them all.
"I will go and catch some more food for us. They look very hungry." He chimed, knowing she might not have eaten enough for both the hungry hatchlings.
Falling silently from the nest the flew north and down. Hoping to find something large enough to feed him and the two newborns.

The newly hatched red griffin looked up at her mother. She chirped loudly, calling almost in an angry voice for her first meal. Phoenix didnt want to be trifled with already. She gave an angry glare at her younger brother, almost as though warning him to eat second.

Talli enveloped the hatchlings with her wings as Chance flew off to find food for them all. She heard Phoenixs cries and wasnt about to give in to a whiney child already. She had been raised tono demand things. She quitly hacked up food for the both of them but offered it first to gambit and then to Phoenix.

Gambit looked at his sister and chirped questionably. He wasnt sure her meaning. He was hungery but wasnt going to be pushy. He took the offered food and gulped it down without hesitation.

Phoenix took the late offered food and glared angerily at her new brother. As soon as her mom was gone she planned on giving him a good peck of angryness to the wing. With her belly half full now she looked up at her mother but remained silent and waiting this time.

Chance flew back to the nest his belly full of a few diffrent things like rabbit and fish. Seeing the hatchlings together he smiled and fed them both patiently, taking his time not to spill anything.
"So now we wait?" Chance asked settling down besides the newborns. Moving close to keep them warm. "This is something i never thought i would have." Chance said "A family. What was yours like growing up?" He asked

"My family, was different. It was griffin this and pure bred griffin that. We were not allowed to know others of different species. We could not mate and breed unless our fathers approved. So as soon as i was able to fly i left."
She watched as he calmly and patiently fed the little ones.

Gambit saw his father arrive and just waited. He was not afraid of his sister. He had caught her looks and was ready for her. He ate his food as it was offered. He was the strong silent type. He knew this already. He could tell his sister was a loud an obnoxious type. That was okay though. One balenced out the other.

Chance listened to his mate watching the hatchlings settle.
"Sounds like a horrible place." Chance said. "I remeber it being cold when i was an egg. Then my master Crepuscule found me. He raised me from an newborn. That was why i stayed with him. It was all that i really knew. We were a team. Together we would get what we wanted. I never knew i could get what i wanted by just asking." Chance looked at the hatchlings and lay his neck down over them, trying to give them shade and warmth they must be tired.

Phoenix might not be as smart as her brother but she had enough fight in her for five griffins. She glared once more at him before closing her eyes and settling into a deep sleep.

Talli listened to Chances early life. What a sad way t live. "Chance, think back, everything you and your master wanted... was it you or him? was it what you wanted or him?"
She stretched one wing up and shaded the hachlings whilst keeping them warm with her body.

Gambit chuckled at his sisters glares and chirped a goodnight. It was only prudent to offer a peace offering. They were siblings after all. And would no dodubt be together for a very long time.

Chance looked at his mate, thinking in his head. Was it really what he wanted.
"I wanted him to be proud of me, i wanted to help him. All my life all i knew was him. He trained me, to be strong." Chance thought back to his younger days. All the training he went through. "He wanted me to be a warrior. To fight anything that came across my path."
Chance shifted more comfortably.
"I guess it wasnt really what i wanted. I have alot of fight in me, and im sure these new griffins will as well. I know they are as beautiful as you. So they must have something from me."
Chance a gave soft chirp across to her. Wanting to be closer to her, but wanting to keep the warmth for the babies as well.
