Lestat nodded, keeping his expression firm just for a few moments. "As long as you understand. You're still young, so I can't hold it against you for seeking fun before work." Then he grinned and wagged his wispy tail. "To the mountain it is. Keep up with me, boy!"
The collie wheeled in place and bounded back up the stairs, moving at a fast trot towards the gang boundary. The mountain loomed directly ahead.

Amir perked up instantly as his father forgave him...and his tail was back to waving around in excitement. It wasn't hard to keep up with Lestat in Amirs excitement it was hard to stay behind him and not running ahead in an obvious joyous bound to get to the mountain and hear what his father had to say about it. "Okay" was all he said as they started up the stairs and out towards the mountain. The closer it came the more excited the boy grew. At least his father understood that he was indeed young and he would want such a wonderful experience fist. Although Amir knew he had to quickly grow out of that if he was to continue to please his Father.

Lestat couldn't help but keep that grin on his muzzle as he led the way. The youth's excitement was infectious, even if Lestat himself wasn't too fond of their destination.

He steered clear of the wasteland as the came to the foot of the mountain. Visiting the site of the battle was one thing, but wandering into the unpredictable, potentially deadly wasteland below would be just plain stupid. He said something to this effect as they began to climb.

"No sense risking your life for curiosity if you don't gain anything useful from the risk. Remember that, because your mother will maul me if I lose you."

Amir followed his father, and looked cautiously at the wastelands as they passed by. It looked dangerous but he had a desire for the dangerous but not at the expense of his beautiful fur or his valuable life. He smiled as he turned to continue his father, hearing his words, "Mama maul you?," he asked, "I will make sure not to do anything crazy during my explorations" he promised his father.. Although Amir did not know what blessings his mother had, or if she even had any. Amir wanted his father to teach him everything and let mama be his mother, "Could you tell me about the magic of the mountain." he asked as they came around to the mountain top.

"The magic of the mountain?" The collie's steps slowed as he turned his head to regard Amir. "That depends on what you want to know. I can tell you about certain Blessings and how to use them, but I'm no expert on their history. I don't know how or why they're tied to the mountain, or anything of that sort."

Despite his pride, he had no problem admitting such a thing to his son. Lestat was a fighter, not a scholar. His knowledge lay in the here and now, and how to best turn a situation to one's advantage. In earlier days he may have tried to seem wise in all things, but there was no sense in that now. He wasn't attempting to win over an army. He was only trying to teach his son.

Amir listened to his father with so much pride and desire to be like him, "Certain ones and how they work is good for me, I don't have any blessings yet I'd like to know what I'm in store for, if I was to get anything could you train me?" He asked. "I know I am to eager and I want to learn to control myself my whims so that I may make better decisions in the future." He said to his father as he walked up to the mountain, feeling the harden lava and looking into the crater itself. "Did you do this?" he asked as his paws stepped, the inner rock was not completely cooled with such destruction it would take a while for the land to recover and while it was hard somewhere there was still warm places somewhere, but he would not go into the crater for his father had already said that he should not risk his life for curiosity.

Lestat kept a careful eye on Amir as they spanned the edge of the burned-out crater. "I did this, with help. As long as there are beasts telling the stories to their children, I will be remembered as the dog who scarred the mountain. It's not something I'm proud of anymore."

He bounded ahead, hopping over a scattering of uneven boulders. As his forepaws touched the ground, they transformed, growing huge and wide. The transformation flowed up his body until instead of a collie on the mountainside, there was a tiger, pale yellow with only faint stripes and the same piercing blue eyes.

"This is the Tigerlily Blessing," he explained. "It's rare. You aren't likely to find one, but it's not the only Blessing of shape change."

Amir was enthralled with what his father was saying as he spoke on the mountain he wasn't really paying attention to the evoked blessing. Suddenly there was a stir of energy and a change in the air. As he turned around his hair bristled at the tiger as he lowered himself defensively, looking around wildly for his father. Then the tiger spoke and recognized the voice, he let up his guard and felt silly for thinking the tiger was anyone but his father. "There are other shape shifting blessings?" he asked curiously, uncertainty still lacing his voice.

Lestat chuckled at his son's reaction, lashing his feline tail from side to side.

"There are, though I don't have any other myself. Your uncle Toric can grow a fish's tail and breath underwater. Your cousin Sethriku can take on a half-canine half-human form at a certain point during the moon's cycle. Those Blessings are called Mer-Creature and Moon Crest. There is also another I know of which changes a creature permanently. It can only be reversed by death. That one is called Vampire Heart, and I wouldn't recommend it."

Amir felt a tad embarrassed slightly at his father laughing at him. it was an honest mistake, there was suddenly a tiger before him and he didn't see his father change shapes. But Amir got over it quickly as his father started to speak again. He listened as an eager son could only listenen, Shape shifting and one to change the inside. "What blessings are easy to gain?" Amir asked, maybe he'd attempt to get as many as he can.

"There are many," Lestat replied. "Basic elemental Blessings, such as Fire, which everyone on the mountain can use. Earth, which helped to dig the tunnel here. Water, which cooled the lava... and then of course there are the slightly less common ones..." and suddenly he was gone without a trace, but his voice spoke up a moment later from behind Amir, continuing the sentence. "... like Teleport. And Fly."
Still in tiger form, he circled around Amir. He was moving slowly and breathing rather deeply, for the Blessing had taken a toll, but these were the only signs he gave of weariness.

Amir was busy taking mental notes, if wolves could write he'd be the first one writing them all down. But he wasn't interested in becoming even part human, he'd inherited his mother natural dislike for them. As his father disappeared, Amir looked around for him, and was about to call his name when Lestat appeared behind him. Amir whirled around quickly to catch the breathing, but he didn't connect this with the blessings, just that he may be moving around too much.

But something he said earlier was what caught Amir's ears, "Everyone has fire, can you show me how to use mine, I know I can't breath it or anything, please father." He asked his ghostly gray eyes focused on his father.

Lestat smiled at the request and let his form melt back into the smaller, more familiar body of a collie. It had been too long since he last used Tigerlily, and the complete change in size and shape was a little disorienting. Not that he'd admit it.

"Using any Blessing is simple, once you know how to use one. The act of activating them is same. You just have to know how different Blessings 'feel'. They're all inside you, ready to be used. What I'm trying to say is, the first time is always the hardest, but after that it's just a matter of following the same steps."

He glanced to the side at one small, scraggly bush, barely clinging to life on the scarred mountainside. A moment later, it was in flames.

"You've only got one Blessing, so there's only one to find. Reach inside yourself. Try to find a spark of power waiting to be released. It should look and feel like fire, in your mind's eye."

Amir listened to his father and watched as the bush caught flames. In his father's words Amir closed his eyes. The pure white brute looked inside himself, there was a lot going on in his mind. He could feel a warmth inside, he thought is was some fuzzy feeling so he'd, a long time ago, blocked it, didn't think it could be his fire.

He grabbed hold, having the internal struggle of finding his flame, and unlocked it, almost a minute later the brute opened his eyes as they flashed red, only momentarily and a twig that Amir had stepped on as he turned to face his father moments ago grew flames under his rear paw. The heat was unexpected and it caused Amir to jerk away from the twig, looking on with pride, he'd done it.

Lestat watched patiently, and opened his mouth in a toothy grin when Amir jerked away from the tiny flame.

"There, you see? Now that you know how to look, it will be easier to use others once you get them."

He considered putting out the fires, but he'd used enough Blessings for so short a period. This part of the mountain was sparse, especially in winter. He didn't think it likely that the flames would spread.

"Do you have any other questions?"
