Lost Courage...

Farore was running, whether it was running out of fear or sadness, the pup wasn't sure. It was clear that tears were flowing freely from her golden eyes and streaking her white face. Why was life doing this to her? She was just a child... Farore had no idea what to make of everything that had happened, so her green paws carried her wherever they willed, her golden pendant bouncing on her chest as she did. That's all she did right now, running and crying.
Finally, her body didn't hold up anymore and the pup collapsed at the base of an old tree. Farore's body was wracked with sobs as she buried her face into her paws. She tried to force back the tears, force back the vision of the dead bodies she saw. Her father couldn't be a monster, her sister and mother couldn't be dead. No... It couldn't be happening... Farore tried to think it was a bad dream, but her father's words still rang in her ears. She couldn't put the images out of her head. The continued to sob, lost now to the world because of the sudden loss of her family because her father truly was a monster...

He had been lingering around Traydon River for days now. It had been the only place he had been since returning to Wolf Mountain but he wasn't sure if he wanted to start anew or go back to the old. The old.. yeah it wasn't bad but he was stuck in shadows of his family, not that that was bad either though his mother was well know and now she was an alphess, so much had changed. No more he needed to deside now. The black, and dual shaded brown brute let his yellow-green eyes move around the area, that one fem he had met earlier Laficia she had a rather interesting family it seemed and being part of ice... Ice wasn't bad. He stopped his pace looked down at the red feather blowing about his chest in the cool autumn breeze and sighed. No not bad..
Then a white blurr seemed to dart by Corrine watched its progress until it stumbled and was on the ground. For one horrid second he realised what it was, a pup and he thought she was dead but her crying could be heard. He quickly strided over on his long legs stopping just over her. Corrine looked at her, physically he could tell she was fine but mentally... "Young one." His voice was soft welcoming his green-gold eyes not leaving her. "What has happend to you?" He asked laying down so he was more at her eye level.

Farore's tears slowly stopped, mostly because there was nothing left to cry out. The pup's ears twitched when she heard a voice. Instinctively, she scooted backwards. Her entire body shook as she looked up at him with her golden eyes. She didn't speak at first, uncertain of what to make of his presence. Finally, she managed to speak, her voice wavering as she fought back the tears that threatened to come back, "Why did my papa do it?"
It didn't occur to Farore that Corrine might not know what she was talking about. She sniffled now and again, still shaking. All she could hope was that Corrine was nice like he sounded and that he might tell her why her father was such a monster.

He tried to understand even with her short words he didn't want to blanantly ask what had happened to her. Corrine's eyes softened as she looked up to him. His families biggest weak spot pups... always had been. The black, brown and tan brute was starting to see a patturn father's letting down, showing a whole different side at bad times. When Corrine was younger he never would have seen his father as a cheating liar but he was older and able the handle the truth a lot better now than the pup. His mind went back to the pup only hoping that he himself wouldn't become a corrupt father if that is if he ever became one.
"What is your story young one?" He asked again trying not to ask directly what had happend. Corrine got a little closer to her so his warm side touched hers. Surely some warming up would make her feel better.

When Corrine layed down beside her, she could feel his fur touch her own. Farore immediately pressed herself closer, still fighting back tears that constantly threatened to return. Her voice wavered again as she spoke, "Papa said he would've done it himself if mama wasn't a coward..." She fell quiet for a moment, remembering when her mother fled the first time. Well, technically, someone had snatched her up, but Farore didn't understand the difference. "Papa made someone else do it for him... Mama and Crystal both... They're gone forever."
At that last statement, Farore broke down into tears again. The tiny pup buried her face into Corrine's side, finding comfort in the stranger's presence. She might not know anything about him, but he was by far the kindest creature she had ever met in her short life.

His breath caught for a moment. Corrine sat rather stunned at the thought tried to shake it off for a moment before realising that the pup wasn't lying or doing anything of the sort she was being very honest actually. He was going to respond in some outlandish manner but he tried to remain calm letting his tail go around the pup as she snuggled in closer to him. "Hush now, it'll be alright." The middle aged wolf said. "There is still hope, death is only permanent if your mother and sister chose to pass... by the sounds of it they weren't ready to pass yet they are most likely still lingering among us as spirits."
Corrine was trying his hardest to make the pup feel better. "Be strong and brave it will be fine." He assured her again though he wasn't really believing the words he was saying himself it was just... something his mom would do.

By now, her tears had turned to sniffles. It was comforting, being with Corrine. Farore managed a smile, especially at the idea that her mother and sister might be able to come back to life. Though in the back of the white pup's mind, she still had her doubts. With a father like Dark Heart, it was possible that the moment they were back, they'd get taken away. Farore wouldn't get her hopes to high up, but it definitely brightened her expression.
Finally, after some silence and wiping her damp face with her paws, she looked up at Corrine with her golden eyes. Something seemed right her, almost like this meeting was meant to happen. Farore was smiling, though it was clear she was still saddened by the loss of her family in a single moment. "My name's Farore," she offered, feeling it was right for him to know her name.

Corrine smiled down at the pup as her sobs turned to quiet sniffs. "There now." He said, "Just takes a bit of hope, bit of courage." His tail thumped on the ground loudly a couple of times and he layed his head on his paws looking at her with his green-gold eyes. This pup if her sister and mother was gone and then her father had killed them.... did she have family? The thought crossed his mind, he didn't like it to much, he diffinately wasn't sending her back to her father....
The tricolored brute's mind quickly changed pace however as the little pup offered him her name, a sign of trust he thought one he happily accepted. "Farore, what a nice name." He said his tail thumping around behind the pup a few times. "Well Farore, my name is Corrine." He said, "Feel free to call me Corry if you want." He very rarely let others call him that name only his family but Farore it seemed alright to let her call him that if she wanted.

A bit of courage, she thought with a smile. How strange it was, that her name supposedly personified Courage, though Farore didn't know it yet. Still, she smiled, knowing now that it would take courage, and a bit of hope, to get through her life. And she'd have Corrine helping her pave the way. Or at least, Farore hoped the tri-colored male would stay. He was the closest thing to a friend or even family she had since she knew nothing of her mother's family, if she had any, or her father's family. For all she knew, her father's family was just like him. She didn't like the thought of being around murderers and monsters.
Farore was staring off in the distance, thinking about what would happen next. First and foremost on her mind was the hope that Corrine wouldn't leave her. When he spoke again, giving his name, the little white fae looked back up at him with her golden eyes. Farore was smiling again, "What do we do now, Corry?" She used the nickname, mostly because saying that rather than his name made her feel comfortable. When she got older, she'd probably use his actual name.

Corrine smiled slightly. That was it. She was looking a lot better now and as his mind wandered and starting playing with the thought of keeping her with him he was surprised to see how his mind clung to it so dearly. Maybe that was exactly what his mind needed to get it off of her. The tri-colored brute, with his green-gold eyes, stared off into the distance himself now. Farore. No he couldn't just leave her out her on her own she was too young... the prospect of finding more of her family didn't sound good to him given the violence her father seemed to show.
As she posed the question he himself was thinking he sighed slightly. Now was the time to make the decision. Was she staying with him. His mind was clinging to yes so firmly he knew the answer after all it couldn't hurt and she had taken to him so well after such a dramatic experience. "Well first, we need to decide what we are going to do with you. We can take you to the puppy play clearing and adoption area where you might find new parents to raise you or... You can stay with me." He said the last part a little more hopefully than intended but he thought in the back of his mind that she would choose that anyway. His mind went to his own father. If she said yes, if he took Farore in, he wouldn't let her down no matter what he wouldn't let anything bad happen to her...

Farore had looked away for a time, her golden eyes looking out in the same direction Corrine had. Her ears stood up as she listened to him. The pup frowned slightly when he first suggested that they find her new parents. She didn't want new parents; what if they turned out to be nice at first and then like her father? Farore wasn't going to have any of that. Then Corrine asked what she was thrilled to here. The little fae's tail wagged excitedly at the prospect of staying with the tri-colored male. Her golden eyes were back on him, and there was clearly joy there.
She stood up and put her green paws up on Corrine, still smiling. It was amazing how quickly things changed, but she had a young mind and it quickly went to things that made her happy. He made her happy. "Always with you, Corry," she said, beaming as she gave her answer. Indeed, she would stay with Corrine as long as she possibly could. The brute would be her father figure. Who knew, maybe Farore would forget her biological father for a time. At least until she understood the ways of life.
"And where do we stay?" She inquired. She remembered clearly a den in Shama where she, Ammon, and Sewati slept before everything happened.

He smiled brightly at her choice happy that she had taken to him. Now he had some of his wish come true he had a child but she wasn't really his and he wouldn't be tied down by a female. His mind wandered to the fem that had lured him away then crushed him like a dead leaf.
He gave a small frown at her statement. "Ahh there kinda the catch.." The tri-colored brute's voice was far from downcast though actually a bit upbeat. "I don't have a pack, I'm a wanderer a loner. Nature and wind will carry us the whole planet is our home." He smiled trying to make this sound adventurous and fun as it could. Farore wouldn't be a pup forever after all. He had to have fun while he could.

Farore tilted her head slightly, golden eyes looking at him with much curiousity. Him not having a pack didn't trouble her in the slightest. She wasn't born into one, so the urge to be part of one wasn't there. The pup's tail waved excitedly when he did answer her. The thought of the world being her home and going where the wind carried her, while perhaps not literally, sounded like an adventure. The idea of being a wanderer with Corrine definitely made Farore excited. Her tail continue to wag. Then let the adventure begin. "I want to see everything, Corry. Everything!" she said with very excited bark.

He was very pleased with her enthusiasm to this new adventure he was placing before her. She seemed ready to go right now but first he wanted to make sure they had food in their stomachs and a place to bed down for the night as the day was slowly vanishing. "I promise I'll show you everything I can Farore." He said standing up letting his green gold eyes lay on her for a good minute before letting them drift around.
Prey wouldn't be far off, this was after all a river and deer and other game needed to drink as well. "What do you want for dinner? Deer, Elk, Hare... You name it I'll get it for you." He was confident he could take down anything that wasn't larger than a cow elk himself but also this would prove as a good teaching lesson for her for the future.

Farore's tail continued to wave madly as she jumped to her feet. It was as if everything before meeting Corrine had been forgotten. So much so that it didn't even occur to her she was hungry until he asked. The pup's stomach grumbled at the mere mention of food. She frowned slightly, but not because she was upset. No, not in the slightest. It was more because she was thinking. She finally came up with an answer, "The shiny jumpers."
Of course, she didn't know exactly what a fish was. They just looked delicious from here. Seeing as they were close to a river, she could have picked anything. But Farore wanted to try something new. The pup's golden eyes were staring at the river when she had answered. Yes, the shiny jumpers were what she wanted to try. She just hoped Corrine could catch them. She danced excitedly on her green legs. Even if he couldn't catch her a fish, she'd be happy with anything while her tummy grumbled.
